Open to everyone

Accessibility

G Live prides itself on being a welcoming and accessible venue for all visitors. We will always endeavour to support all our patrons to access and enjoy our events. Below you can find a variety of information to help you plan your visit.

Our Access Team

For Access Enquiries contact us via:

Our access team is made up of a core group of staff, who help shape and drive the access offer for the building. At G Live, we understand that access can mean so much more than ramps and lifts (though these of course are important). It is about representation and respect as much as anything else, and recognising that barriers to access can be logistical, physical, cultural, financial, and more.

Through ongoing training of staff and partnerships with organisations such as Attitude is Everything, G Live can ensure that they are at the forefront of access in the live entertainment industry. Recent training for staff has included:

  • Dementia Awareness

  • British Sign Language

  • Visual Impairment Training

  • Mental Health Awareness

As part of its ongoing commitment to improving access, G Live has also partnered with national access organisation Ramps On The Moon to review our access offer, and all staff have undertaken their flagship ‘Theatre For Everyone’ training.

Personal Assistant Policy

G Live offers a complimentary personal assistant ticket to all shows and workshops for patrons with a variety of access requirements (subject to availability/verification may be required). These can be booked by phone or in person.

Building Specifics

All areas of G Live, both backstage and front of house, are totally wheelchair accessible to both patrons and staff.

Hearing Loops

Both the main hall and the Bellerby Studio are equipped with a Sennheiser infra-red system. This technology uses an invisible infrared light to connect the sound source and the listener. There are eight headsets available from the cloakroom. Please let us know when booking if you will require one. A counter-induction loop is provided at the box office and four portable units for use in the private meeting rooms. The headsets are worn like stethoscopes and have an on/off switch and a volume control for the user to adjust to a comfortable volume.

If you would like to visit the space when performances are not taking place to look at the wheelchair places available in the auditorium we can make arrangements with the duty manager to allow this. Please contact Ticketing in the first instance.

Photosensitivity and Respiratory Conditions

For any performance containing strobe lighting, flashing lights, pyrotechnics, haze/smoke, and/or loud bangs/explosions, a notice will be displayed in all public areas, as well as on the doors of the relevant space. Ushers and House Managers will also be aware of this content. If this is likely to be a concern for you or members of your party, please consult with a duty manager upon arrival.

Sen Needs / Sensory Processing / Autism And Asperger’s

G Live understands that coming into a busy live entertainment environment can be overwhelming for patrons who have sensory needs. We have worked with local families to produce a G Live social story, which can be downloaded below before your visit, or collected from our ticketing desk on arrival. This helps explain how G Live operates, and what to expect during a visit to the venue.

We have a number of sets of cans available from our ticketing desk, and G Live will display notices prior to any performances containing strobe lighting, flashing lights, pyrotechnics, Haze/Smoke, and/or loud bangs/explosions.

Early Entry Tours

If you are a parent and have booked your child onto one of our holiday workshops, it is possible to arrange an early entry tour. Our access lead will show you around the building, explain how the day will work, and introduce you to the lead practitioner for the day. Please contact us if you would like to arrange an early entry tour.
