Our Charity Partners

Great Ormond Street Hospital

Trafalgar Theatres are proud to support the Theatres for Theatres Appeal, in aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity. With the generosity of our audiences, staff members and visiting companies we have collectively raised over £1million for the charity.

This amazing milestone has helped to build and equip a suite of brand new operating theatres at the Hospital which will open later this year, helping to save the lives of sick children from across the United Kingdom.

The next phase of our fundraising will see contributions going towards an IMRI (Intraoperative Magnetic Resonance Imaging) suite at the hospital. This vital facility will enable neurosurgeons at Great Ormond Street Hospital to conduct scans mid-operation for the first time, without taking the child away from the operating table. It will transform brain surgery by giving surgeons real time data to ensure they can deliver the best outcome for each patient as well as limiting the need for further surgery.

Your support makes a huge difference. Thank you.

TALK Surrey CIO

Imagine life if you suddenly found yourself unable to read a newspaper, write a shopping list, talk to family or friends, use a telephone or many other everyday activities. Aphasia means problems with communication (speaking, understanding, reading, writing). Aphasia has a sudden and profound effect on the person, their family and friends. It impacts on the individual’s confidence, personal relationships, employment and social life. It is a communication disability that is caused by damage to the language processing centres of the brain, most commonly through stroke.

TALK is a charity that supports people with aphasia and their families in Surrey. They have five groups who meet in different parts of Surrey offering long-term social support to people with aphasia, and can arrange home visits for people who can't get to a group. The groups take place in: Ashford, Knaphill, Walton, Guildford AM and Guildford PM, and offer a range of planned activities run by volunteers.

Being a TALK volunteer is a rewarding experience and a great deal of fun. If you would like to get involved contact [email protected] to find out more.
